Chemicals are as old as the universe, and our raw materials come from the chemistry of nature. Life, in all of its aspects, is a chemical affair. The human body works like a chemical plant. Chemicals are all around us - the gift of God’s creation, or the result from man’s hard work and industry. Chemicals are a necessity and a blessing for humanity. Conversely, chemicals - in the wrong hands - can be deadly dangerous, when treated without knowledge, without respect, without Responsible Care.

Safety and training, a never ending effort

	We at ITH believe in the chemical industry’s world-wide commitment to Responsible Care. We practice it, as we did as founding members of our regional association: the ‘ASOCIACION LATINOAMERICANA DE USUARIOS DE CLORO (ALUC, Inc.)’.

Among our key Responsible Care principles to follow are:

Making training, safety and environment a constant priority in all our planning and operations.
Working with customers and manufacturers on product handling, transportation, and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
Participating with government in creating responsible laws, regulations and standards to safeguard the workplace, the community and the environment.
Responding to community concerns about chemicals, their presence, handling and uses.
Providing trained crews in the case of chemical spills and emergencies, which also extends to the emergency support of our communities when struck by natural disaster.
Caring for our communities, from providing local drinking water treatment support, to vaccination, educational and sports programs for the people working in our companies – and their children.
